It is a powerful book on teaching in general, and more specifically on the need for teachers to recognize and build an awareness of each student as an individual. This book will hopefully speak to teachers and either reaffirm what they are already doing, or make them realize that they need to be more attuned to the social and emotional needs of each student. Incidentally, parents could benefit from reading this book as well.
