Heavens above Pietr

Heavens above is a compilation of stories or vignettes about conversations between an angel in heaven and departed souls from the earth. These fall into different types of people, from sinners to saints. The angel has to decide, depending on how the soul has lived it's life, whether to let him or her into the gates of heaven. To this end she (or he) consults a large book called THE GREAT TEXT OF SOULS, where all the deeds of all the people who have ever lived, is kept. Souls range from a conquerer, who slashes at heaven's gates with his sword and who chastises the angel for leaving innocent souls to be slaughtered by him, to the story of the lovers who are told they will be rejoined in their next life. There are over 20 characters in this series. We, presumably, might fit into a category being presented here. There's the story of the gambler, who finds peace at last and also a painter, who moves into the landscape of her own heart. There is also the story of the cleaning woman, called BEESWAX, where she was abused by an ungrateful mistress and who believes she is not worthy to enter heaven. However the angel tells her, "you were not so much, cleaning the floors and walls of your mistress's house, but the very walls and floor of your own heart, which you can now see shines, like the precious being you are" needless to say, she enters into heaven
