This book examines the relationship between the British Cotton Growing Association and the British Imperial and Colonial Governments of Northern Nigeria during the first two decades of the twentieth century. All parties involved wanted to see an increase in cotton production but could not always agree on the methods of achieving this goal. The book discusses the formation of the British Cotton Growing Association. Its prominent members and supporters are revealed. British Cotton Growing Association activities are examined and discussed with particular reference to Northern Nigeria. This scholarly study is of particular interest to students of Africa and Nigerian colonial history and economic development.
