Breast cancer is a disease that has been known since ancient times (Egypt, in the Ebers papyrus of 1600 BC approximately). In Cuba it occupies the first link within the causes of neoplastic incidence and mortality of the female sex. A longitudinal, prospective and descriptive study of 76 patients (universe/sample) was carried out with the objective of characterizing the needle biopsy as a pre-surgical treatment of breast cancer in the Clinical Surgical Hospital "Joaquín Albarrán".
