Global warming is the procedure by which our planet warms up. Because of rising temperatures, ice will melt and some areas will get wetter and lots of animals (and humans!) cannot find they're not able to adapt to their changing climate.

Human activity has caused the Earth to warm. Car engines, work by burning petrol, using oxygen from the air. As a byproduct, it gives off invisible carbon dioxide gas. In a similar way, power plants use oxygen to burn fuels to make our electricity - so they give off carbon dioxide too. So, whenever we use electricity or car fuels, it produces huge clouds of carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide drifts up into the atmosphere and makes it just a little thicker. As a result, more of the Sun's heat gets trapped inside the atmosphere and the planet warms up.
