Paradise Lost (Annotated)
John Milton
Differentiated book- It has a historical context with research of the time-Paradise Lost by John Milton. John Milton (London, December 9, 1608-ibid, November 8, 1674) was an English poet and essayist, especially known for his epic poem Paradise Lost. Politically he was an important figure among those who supported the Commonwealth of England. He held the post of Minister of Foreign Languages under the command of Oliver Cromwell and his political treaties were consulted for the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America. Poetically, Milton is one of the most important figures in the English literary scene, sometimes being placed on the same level as Shakespeare. Milton's influence on later literature is wide and varied: the acceptance and diffusion of white verse in poetry is attributed to the influence of his work, and, especially during Romanticism, allusions to his work reached a level similar to that enjoyed by classical references. Milton's own personality has sometimes been debated and criticized, especially the way in which he drew himself in some of his works, especially in the "Defensio". Queen Elizabeth I died without leaving any offspring, thus ending the Tudor dynasty, and the Stuart dynasty beginning, when the crown passed to James I, who was also king of Scotland and Ireland.
