This book is a very basic introduction to music theory from a singer's standpoint. Because singers are often required to read music on the job, this moves past the roadblocks and cuts through the unnecessary steps to quickly access the fundamentals and have the singer learn to sightread based on the number system. The emphasis is on scale placement which in turn trains the ear to recognize intervals. Muscle memory is also addressed and there are exercises listed to develop this particular method of sight reading.
