This book is dedicated to what must over the years run into thousands of groups of mates who have started a football team. The first league we entered was the London and Kent Border Sunday League which at its peak had 137 teams in its divisions and yet in 2012 amalgamated with another Sunday league (Kent Suburban) and today struggles to get two divisions together. It is also dedicated to the one fella who lives and dies football.... a total football nut who does absolutely everything, he's the secretary, he's the manager, also a player, hangs the nets on his own (and takes them down) and after all that he washes the kit, re-running back over in his mind the full 90 minutes as he stares into the washing machine as the kit spins round at 800 revolutions per minute. Always get to the park early on the Sunday morning, clear the pitch of dog shit, broken glass, beer cans, used Johnnies whatever and get your petrol lawn mower out to remove any tufts of long grass etc. Plus use bags of B& Q sand to fill in any pot holes/divots. Whilst doing all this put a hi-vis on so people will think you're from the council. All this before putting up the nets and the corner flags and then hanging the kit up complete with tie ups and chewing gum etc.
