Successfully blending both role playing and first-person shooting, Borderlands places up to four players onto the frontier planet of Pandora.

Few developers have managed the feat of merging both role playing and shooting elements into one cohesive whole. Borderlands picks and chooses the best of each genre, allowing players to customise their own unique character and partake in frenetic first-person combat. Four characters are on offer - each with their own particular skills - that can be altered and upgraded via an in-depth experience system. Borderlands has been designed from the ground up with co-operative play in mind, allowing up for four players to join forces online, rewarding those who work together.

Visually, Borderlands offers a striking hand-drawn art style that stands out against the typical dark tones shooters are known for. These visuals are backed up by a robust gun list that offers almost countless combinations of different weaponry, each with their own separate specifications on offer. Much like the Wastelands of the Fallout series, the Planet of Pandora offers varied locales crawling with bandits and other creatures, all searching for the legendary Alien Vault rumoured to contain a mysterious prize.

Borderlands offers a truly unique action experience, mixing traditional combat with a healthy dose of role playing ideals.
