Engaging and surreal, this feminist farce from Czech New Wave director Vera Chytilová details the adventures of two young women-both named Marie (Jitka Cerhová, Ivana Karbanová)-who thumb their noses at an indifferent and patriarchal world as they tease men, destroy property, upend social gatherings, and play with their food. Absurd, anarchic. And banned in it's homeland on it's release; with Ester Krumbachová, Jan Klusák. 74 min. Standard; Soundtrack: Czech Dolby Digital mono; Subtitles: English; audio commentary; featurettes; short films "A Bagful of Fleas" (1962), "Ceiling" (1962); theatricall trailer. In Czech with English subtitles.
