The Voice, as he had been known, had entered a quiet phase of his career come the start of the 1950s, but all that was to change with his signing to Capitol Records and the start of a run of albums that would not only re-define how the American Songbook was sung but would also kick start Sinatra's career to the legendary heights that he attained later on. The first of these albums, "Songs For Young Lovers", was originally issued on 10" LP, and in its songs, backed by the beautiful arrangements by Nelson Riddle, Sinatra laid out his new style - relaxed but romantic, assured but still vulnerable, above all full of life and love. The albums that followed (and his side career in films such as the one that gave the Proper Intro its title), catapulted Sinatra to superstar status, and in the artistry of the tracks on this album you can see exactly why and how that happened.
