A contrast of two worlds: While Strauss was appointed 'Reichsmusikkammer' president of the NSDAP in 1933, Schulhoff, whose music was banned as 'degenerate', died in 1942 of tuberculosis in the Wülzburg prison camp. David Geringas' performance of Erwin Schulhoff's 'C major' and Richard Strauss' 'F major Cello Sonatas' juxtaposes the lives of two musicians later directly affected by Hitler's regime.
