Esther Phillips
Esther Phillips' fifth album was produced by Creed Taylor for his own CTI label and arranged by guitarist Joe Beck (which results in some awesome hot guitar tracks). Recorded in 1975 at the superior (wooden) acoustic of Rudy Van Gelder's custom studio in Englewood Cliffs, with a line-up consisting of the hottest jazz musicians of that time from Michael Brecker on tenor sax, David Sanborn on alto sax, and Randy Brecker on trumpet to Steve Khan on guitar and Don Grolnick on keyboards. This record, a combination of R&B, disco, jazz and blues is Esther's most commercial album and puts the legendary singer on the highest international level where she belongs.
